Recently, the plasma smart ignition system, introduced and implemented by ZhenHua Oil Abu Dhabi, delivered outstanding results at the RDS-1 in ADNOC Onshore’s Sahil Oilfield. This innovative technology not only passed ADNOC’s stringent evaluation but also maintained a flawless 100% ignition success rate throughout a rigorous six-month trial under extreme weather conditions, bringing green innovation to the desert.
The smart plasma ignition technology eliminates reliance on fossil fuels by converting electrical energy directly into high-temperature plasma flames, which enable efficient, visible, and clean combustion without fuel consumption. Designed to thrive in the Middle East’s harsh climate, the system operates reliably even under extreme heat. Compared with conventional gas ignition systems, it is expected to save ADNOC Onshore oilfields approximately 235 million standard cubic feet (6.65 million cubic meters) of natural gas annually while cutting CO₂ emissions by 13,000 tons, offering a tangible pathway for low-carbon transformation.
This pilot success marks a milestone as the deployment of Chinese innovative technology to the desert oilfield in the Middle East, demonstrating ZhenHua Oil’s innovation and expertise in green oilfield solutions.
