On June 11, the MT GULF FANATIR departed from Rizhao Port, bound for Rotterdam in the Netherlands, marking a historic milestone for Zhenhua Oil with the successful completion of its first-ever biofuel export transaction. This achievement represents the company’s initial breakthrough in the international trade of low-carbon, sustainable energy and underscores its commitment to building a new model of green development guided by ESG principles.

As one of the world’s most recognized clean alternative energy sources, biofuel is playing an increasingly important role in shaping a low-carbon energy ecosystem. Produced from renewable feedstocks such as waste oils and biomass, and processed through environmentally friendly technologies to meet international standards, biofuel offers significant advantages: lower carbon emissions, broad application potential, and strong compatibility with existing fuel infrastructure. In particular, within high-emission sectors such as aviation, shipping, and heavy-duty transport, biofuels are rapidly becoming a key pathway for deep decarbonization and sustainable transformation.
To seize the opportunity in the green energy transition, Zhenhua Singapore, the company’s regional trading hub, has taken proactive steps to build a compliant and sustainable supply chain. It successfully obtained ISCC EU (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification – EU) and ISCC CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) certificates, which not only demonstrate Zhenhua Oil’s capability to supply certified sustainable biofuels to international markets but also lay a solid foundation for future participation in the global carbon market and for serving ESG-focused customers with the highest standards.
From a sustainability perspective, the exported biofuel is expected to reduce approximately 11,800 tons of CO₂ emissions during its end use. This is equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of around 325,000 mature trees, or the decarbonization benefits of solar power generation for approximately 2,100 households over a full year. This achievement provides tangible carbon footprint optimization for end users and establishes Zhenhua Oil as a verifiable, measurable, and sustainable benchmark in the global green supply chain.
Moving forward, Zhenhua Oil will continue to advance its green energy business with higher standards and stronger commitment, actively expanding in the biofuel sector and accelerating its efforts to build an internationally recognized green energy brand.
